Like other villages in Kerry such as Firies and Lixnaw, Milltown has grown substantially in recent years, with a number of housing developments being built. The Census of Ireland 2011 showed that Milltown was the fastest growing village in Kerry between 2006 and 2011, in which time its population more than doubled from 401 to 838.
